The Veterans Administration has been at the forefront of putting best practice guidelines into practice to both reduce opioid addiction and prevent its spread. The first line of treatment for musculoskeletal conditions is now to utilize Chiropractic, Massage Therapy, and Acupuncture, in addition to promoting stress reduction techniques and self-care habits like forming a yoga practice, and is associated with fewer adverse outcomes as compared with pharmacological approaches.
Most people don’t know that both Massage Therapy and Chiropractic are included in the standard medical benefits for Veterans through the Veterans Administration system. For most Veterans that usually means 24 visits to either (or both) our massage therapists and Chiropractor are paid for by the VA, and we offer discounts to Veterans who choose to self-pay for treatment beyond what the VA will cover.
For a Veteran to receive a referral to our clinic, they need to:
1) Ask their primary care physician at the VA for a referral to massage therapy and/or chiropractic for a specific condition.
2) Ask their primary care physician to refer them to Sea Change Family Chiropractic as their community provider of choice.
After that, a referral will be written, the VA will authorize these visits and send us a fax, and then we will contact the Veteran to setup appointments.
Please call at us at 607-256-9355 if you have any questions about a Veteran receiving chiropractic and/or massage therapy through the VA.
